Explanation of Environment (Rome)

The city of Rome has tremendous environmental advantages which is why Rome became an important city. Rome is located at the first place that people can easily cross the Tiber river, it is the natural location of the main north -south road of Italy. 

There also is many salt flats which is important because salt is a very important in ancient times it was also used for trade before coins and gold. As the Romans expanded their empire there was other environments like marshes, swamps, mountains, forests, and etc. The Romans were adept and got used to any environment that they were in and cope with it in a manner that made things more easy, also the Roman army was very successful because they used the field to their own advantage.

During the period of the Roman Empire from 100 B.C. to 500 A.D., the Romans controlled the Mediterranean Sea. This made them capable of across sea trades that took a few weeks this way to Egypt rather than the long travel by foot and horses. They also had the advantage of getting food and materials from lots of different environments. They got tin from England , wood from Germany, and cotton from Egypt, and silver from Spain.
