Cultural Practices

We all have our own culture like festivals and holidays like X-Mas and other holidays and so did the ancient people of Rome and Persia.

Persian: 

  1. The ancient Persians had many festivals.
  2. Meheregan is dedicated to Ahura Mazda, the Lord of Wisdom.
  3. The ancient Persians celebrated the last 10 days of the year in their annual obligation feast of all souls.
  4. They believed Foruhars, guardian angles for humans and the spirit of the dead would come back for a reunion.
  5. The spirits were entertained and bid farewell with a ritual.
  6. Iranians still setup bond fires and do house cleaning on the last Tuesday of the year.
  7. now in modern times people jump over the fires as a ritual and wash away their sins.    

Roman:

  1. The Civic Crown was valued in ancient Rome.
  2. You would win such an award for saving a citizen in battle.
  3. This Crown was a wreath of oak leaves, with pendant acorns.
  4. That person could wear it at any time.
  5. The Romans would watch the Gladiators fight to the finish in the amphitheaters.
  6. Most Gladiators were male slaves.
  7. The slaves were trained in a place called a ludi.
