Cultural Practices
We all have our own culture like festivals and holidays like
X-Mas and other holidays and so did the ancient people of Rome and Persia.
Persian:
- The ancient Persians had many festivals.
- Meheregan is dedicated to Ahura Mazda, the Lord of Wisdom.
- The ancient Persians celebrated the last 10 days of the
year in their annual obligation feast of all souls.
- They believed Foruhars, guardian angles for humans and the
spirit of the dead would come back for a reunion.
- The spirits were entertained and bid farewell with a
ritual.
- Iranians still setup bond fires and do house cleaning on
the last Tuesday of the year.
- now in modern times people jump over the fires as a ritual
and wash away their sins.
Roman:
- The Civic Crown was valued in ancient Rome.
- You would win such an award for saving a citizen in battle.
- This Crown was a wreath of oak leaves, with pendant acorns.
- That person could wear it at any time.
- The Romans would watch the Gladiators fight to the finish
in the amphitheaters.
- Most Gladiators were male slaves.
- The slaves were trained in a place called a ludi.
