Values and beliefs on which life was based
Everyone has their own beliefs and
thoughts, some people are Muslim and believe in different things than
Christians. Well here are the things the Romans and Persians believed:
Roman:
- Altars were the focus of religious ceremony.
- Positions of an altar shows the function.
- If the altar is raised it means that it is for celestial sacrifices.
- Pits and trenches served as receptacles for offerings to
gods of the earth or underworld.
- In ancient Hebrew altars were used for food and animal
offerings.
- Ancestors were believed to wield authority.
- Protection of family was very important.
Persian:
- The religion of Persia was Zoroastrianism.
- Zoroastrianism was founded by the prophet Zoroaster.
- The doctrines preached by Zoroaster are preserved in his
metrical Gathas (psalms) which form part of the sacred scripture known as
the Avesta.
- The basic tenets of the Gathas consist of a monotheistic
worship of Ahura Mazda (the "Lord Wisdom").
- The first Persian king to recognize the religion of
Zoroaster was Darius the first.
- Magi were followers of Zoroaster.
- In the seventh century the Arabs took over Persia and made
it Islam.
